During his time on the bench, Judge Abrams served as the Chief Administrative Judge of the Civil Division and as Presiding Civil Judge for the New Haven and New Britain Judicial Districts. Prior to becoming a judge, he served as Corporation Counsel for the City of Meriden, as a State Representative in the Connecticut General Assembly, as an Adjunct Associate Professor at Quinnipiac University, and as President of the Connecticut Judges Association.
Judge Abrams earned his BA from Trinity College and graduated with honors from the University of Connecticut School of Law.

I resolved thousands of civil cases during my 18 years as a Superior Court Judge. I also presided over numerous jury and courtside cases.
Approach
In a mediation, my goal is to determine what truly motivates the parties to each dispute. I strictly limit the amount of time that tbe parties spend together and, instead, prefer to meet with each side individually and then engage in “shuttle diplomacy.” In cases where the parties are the decision makers, I recognize the importance of engagement and listening. As relates to arbitrations, I favor a relaxed proceeding where the parties feel comfortable telling their stories.
