Matthew Carroll is a registered Domestic Mediator with the Supreme Court of Indiana and the owner of Keystone Mediation in Dyer, Indiana. He works primarily in divorce and family matters, including parenting plans, child support, property division, post-decree issues, and prenuptial and postnuptial agreements. He also offers couples mediation for partners who are not ready for divorce and want structured support to address conflicts, identify areas of the relationship that are not working, and improve communication. He primarily serves clients throughout Indiana and in nearby communities in Illinois, including through Zoom.
He serves as adjunct faculty at Northwestern University’s School of Professional Studies in Chicago, Illinois, where he co-instructs the Divorce Mediation course with Sandra Crawford, JD. He also serves as adjunct faculty at Aurora University, introducing graduate students and emerging professionals to mediation skills and practice.
In addition to private mediation, Matthew designs and delivers training programs and mentorship for mediators and related professionals. Through Keystone Mediation, he developed an Advanced Divorce Mediation program and a six-part mediation skills workshop series focused on practical tools and communication strategies.
Matthew is a Certified Practitioner with the Academy of Professional Family Mediators and a registered Parenting Coordinator with the Supreme Court of Indiana. He is a member of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, the Academy of Professional Family Mediators, the American Bar Association, and the Lake County Bar Association in Indiana. He serves as a board member for the Indiana Association of Mediators and Kids Managing Conflict, and he served for 15 years on the board of the American Guild of Musical Artists.
Matthew has presented on a wide range of topics for organizations including the American Bar Association, the Academy of Professional Family Mediators, Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education, the Maryland Judiciary’s Program for Mediator Excellence, the Southern California Mediation Association, Aurora University, multiple Chambers of Commerce, and the Indiana Association of Mediators. He has also supported school-based conflict resolution initiatives, including peer mediation programming.
Matthew is partnering with Mediators Beyond Borders International as the inaugural International Peace Summer Camp Director for teens.
Before entering mediation full time, Matthew worked as a labor negotiator for the American Guild of Musical Artists and as a professional musician on projects recognized with Grammy and Emmy awards. That background informs his approach to mediation through structured conversation, careful listening, and practical problem-solving.
Matthew also volunteers with the Center for Conflict Resolution in Chicago, Illinois.

Approach
Most matters are scheduled in 2:00 hour sessions. I guide a structured conversation and help parties work through the issues that need decisions in a dissolution of marriage. The process is detailed, organized, and paced to support informed decision-making.
