Rendi Alexander is an attorney, mediator, and retired United States Air Force Major with more than two decades of experience helping individuals and organizations resolve complex disputes. Drawing upon a career spanning military service, legal practice, government contracting, and alternative dispute resolution, she brings a calm, analytical, and solution-focused approach to mediation.

Rendi earned her Juris Doctor from Georgia State University College of Law and later completed a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Government Procurement Law from The George Washington University Law School with High Honors. She is licensed to practice law in Illinois and has extensive experience drafting settlement agreements, negotiating resolutions, and advising clients through emotionally and financially significant legal matters.

Throughout her military career, Rendi served in multiple leadership roles before becoming a Judge Advocate. As Deputy Chief of the Air Force Contract Law Field Support Center, she advised senior military leaders on high-value government contracts, negotiated complex legal issues, and helped resolve disputes involving multiple stakeholders with competing interests. Her experience taught her that the best outcomes are often achieved through careful listening, creative problem-solving, and principled negotiation rather than litigation.

Today, Rendi focuses her practice on helping people reach durable, practical agreements that preserve relationships whenever possible. She believes mediation empowers individuals to retain control over their own outcomes instead of placing those decisions in the hands of a judge. Her approach is patient, impartial, and highly organized, ensuring every participant has an opportunity to be heard while keeping discussions productive and forward-looking.

Rendi has particular experience assisting parties with family law matters, divorce and separation agreements, parenting disputes, property division, business disagreements, contract disputes, and other civil conflicts. She understands that legal disputes are rarely just legal problems; they are personal, financial, and emotional challenges requiring both empathy and objective analysis.

Clients appreciate Rendi's ability to explain complex legal issues in plain language, identify practical options for resolution, and facilitate productive conversations even when communication has broken down. She is known for her professionalism, thorough preparation, and commitment to helping parties find common ground.

Whether serving as a mediator or consulting attorney, Rendi is dedicated to providing an efficient, respectful, and confidential process that helps clients move beyond conflict and toward lasting resolution.

ADR Experience

My alternative dispute resolution experience includes serving as both a neutral and an advocate in mediation and arbitration proceedings. As a mediator, I have facilitated divorce and family law mediations, helping parties resolve issues involving property division, parenting, and other family-related disputes through negotiated settlement. I have also served as an arbitrator in a private business dispute, rendering a decision after considering the evidence and arguments presented by the parties. In addition, I have represented a claimant as counsel in an American Arbitration Association (AAA) commercial breach of contract arbitration, providing firsthand experience with arbitration procedure, case preparation, evidentiary presentation, and advocacy. My legal career has further involved extensive negotiation of complex commercial agreements and dispute resolution in both military and civilian practice. As a retired United States Air Force Judge Advocate and former Deputy Chief of the Air Force Contract Law Field Support Center, I regularly advised on high-value government contracts and negotiated resolutions involving multiple stakeholders, experiences that directly inform my practical and collaborative approach to mediation.

Approach

My Approach
I believe the most durable resolutions are those the parties create themselves. My role as a mediator is not to decide who is right or wrong, but to facilitate productive communication, identify underlying interests, and help parties explore practical solutions that meet their individual needs and objectives. My mediation style is facilitative, structured, and solution-oriented. I create an environment in which each participant has an equal opportunity to be heard while maintaining focus on the issues that must be resolved. When appropriate, I use private caucuses to help parties candidly evaluate risks, clarify priorities, and explore settlement options they may not have previously considered. Drawing on my experience as an attorney, retired Air Force Judge Advocate, and negotiator, I help parties analyze complex legal, financial, and practical issues without providing legal advice or advocating for either side. My goal is to help participants make informed decisions, preserve important relationships whenever possible, and reach agreements that are realistic, comprehensive, and built to last. Whether the dispute involves family matters, business relationships, contracts, or other civil issues, I strive to conduct every mediation with professionalism, impartiality, patience, and respect.
